Written by Louise Brown, The Slow Travels is a slow travel blog with a key focus on sustainable living and eco-friendly tourism; travelling Scotland and beyond. Born from a combined passion of photography and writing, The Slow Travels encapsulates beautiful storytelling in every adventure, large or small.
In the winter of 2011 I first ventured to the city of Edinburgh, to visit my (then) boyfriend, Luke. It’s here I fell in love with the magic of the city and immediately began making plans for my own personal move at the end of my university studies. In 2014, in search of new beginnings following the completion of my degree, I relocated from North West England, to Scotland.
With the intention of perhaps only staying a year or two, it was clear that our love for Edinburgh and the lives we had here would make it difficult for us to ever leave.
So we didn’t.
Seven years later, in 2018 we bought and moved into our first home in the colonies, a part of Edinburgh’s history. It’s here we live with our cheeky cat Gizzy, always on the lookout for the next adventure.
